The first 2008 meeting for the Britcar circus featuring Britcar, Britsports, Production S1 and the BRSCC Alfa Romeo Championship. There was every kind of weather during the meeting including a couple of near white-out blizzards during the Britcar race - different.

Up to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire for the first bike meeting I have photographed since I walked out of the British Superbikes at Silverstone in disgust in 2004. To my great surprise I enjoyed myself watching and photographing some great racing from the New Era Motorcycle Club in what where some pretty awful conditions. I wouldn't call myself a convert to two wheeled racing yet but I will probably go back!

Due to a bunch of "nimby" local residents who've bought houses close to a race track and then been surprised that it's occasionaly noisy (we call those kind of people "idiots") this could be the last time Castle Combe circuit hosts this event. I sincerely hope not!

The World Touring Car Championship round from the Silverstone International Circuit.

The FIA GT Championship round run on the Silverstone International Circuit, Sunday 15th May. A great victory for the new Aston Martin DBR9 on it's first time out!

Annual Civil Service Motoring Association meeting at Brands. Formula Palmer Audi was the headline series.

A meeting of the Historic Sports Car Club at Silverstone Circuit. Very variable light. Cameras EOS 10D and 1D Mark II. Lenses EF 24mm f/1.4L, EF 70-200 f/4.0L, Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX and Sigma APO 500mm f/4.5 EX.

Stock Hatches, Hot Hatches and others from the 750MC meet at Brands. My second outing with the Sigma 500mm prime.

The VSCC season opener at Silverstone. Lots of lovely old tin running round.

Raining, windy and cold. Enough said.

A beautiful sunny day at Gurston Down allowed the use of my favourite lens / camera combinations; the EOS 10D with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L and the EOS 1D Mark II with the incomparable Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX. Shooting fish in a barrel. The Canon EF 17-40L was used for some paddock shots on the 1D.

Gorgeous sunny weather at Snetterton for a good days racing with Porsches, VSRs, Super Silhouettes, T-Cars, Formula Ford 1600 and Global GT Lights. Oh, and the bacon rolls were fabulous. It doesn't get much better!

MG Car Club meeting over the Silverstone National circuit. An excellent day's racing. Cameras used were the Canon EOS 1D Mk II and EOS 10D. Lenses were the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX, the Canon 70-200mm f/4L and the Canon 24mm f/1.4L.

A damp, cold and misty Donington Park was not the best place to see what turned out to be the usual fantastic HSCC turnout.

A strange day at Silverstone. Practice was delayed by fog and you'll see some of the pictures are a little fogged too. The sun broke through mid afternoon and caused it's own problems due to the low angle (winter sun is can be annoying sometimes). A good days racing and an excellent start to the year at Silverstone.

Something of a departure from my normal haunt of circuit racing but good fun. Shots were taken using the EOS 1D Mark II and a 50mm f/1.4, 120-300mm f/2.8 Sigma and a Canon 70-200mm f/4.

An early outing to shake the cobwebs out of the cameras. 10D and 1D Mark II used along with the Sigma 120-300mm, the Canon 100-400L and the Canon 70-200mm f/4. A special guest appearance is also made by a mates Sigma 100-300 f/4 EX.

Vintage Sports Car Club at the historic Brooklands race track. Shots were taken with an EOS 10D or EOS 1D Mark II using a Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and Canon EF 17-40 f/4L. All images have been reduced in size for web display.

Note that the camera was held level for all shots. Any tilt is due to the angle of the Brooklands banking.

The annual Autosport International show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The final meeting at Brands Hatch for 2004. Damp, misty and generally unpleasant. Did I mention a distinct lack of catering?

The European Endurance Racing Club meeting at Brands Hatch. Horrible weather but the first outing for my Canon EOS 1D MarkII. A variety of lenses used. Oh... and the last few shots are of the night race at the end of the day so don't go accusing me of getting the exposure way out OK? ;-)

The second day of the rallycross weekend at Brands Hatch. The weather wasn't nearly so nice as the Saturday. Overcast and dull which didn't make for good photography. Most of these shots were taken with the 10D and Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX. There were a couple take with the Canon 100-400L when the light briefly improved.

A wet and dark day... Thank God for the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX. Once again my favourite lens came to the rescue.

It rained nearly all day and got VERY dark towards the end. Thankfully the trusty Sigma f/2.8 did it's usual sterling work and kept me shooting 'til the end.

Sunshine and showers but great racing. Lenses used were the Tamron 28-75mm in the paddock and then the 100-400L and the Sigma 120-300mm trackside.

A selection of images from the event I've enjoyed least this year. The on-track action was fine. The great British public was something else entirely.

The second day of the EuroBOSS meeting. Much better weather and light.

A day of contrasts with bright sunshine in the morning and then torrential rain and very low light in the afternoon. Doesn't really make for easy photography. Shots are with Sigma 120-300, Canon 100-400, Canon 7-200 and Tamron 28-75.

The Revival Meeting at Goodwood is restricted to cars which raced during the circuit's time as an operational race track (1948-1966).

Some (well a lot) of images from a really special days racing at the Oulton Park Gold Cup. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

I have to say that the Brands Hatch round of the BTCC was one of the most boring race events I've been to in a long time. Anyway, here are the pictures. Lenses used were the Canon 100-400L, the Sigma 120-300EX, the Canon 70-200L and the Tamron 28-75 round the paddock.

The Historic Sports Car Club Superprix at Brands Hatch. These images were taken on the Sunday. The weather was a complete mix ranging from dark and raining to bright sunshine. Lenses used were the Sigma APO 120-300mm f/2.8 EX HSM and Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM.

The weather was a complete mix ranging from dark and raining to bright sunshine including a fairly spectacular thunderstorm during the lunch break. Lenses used were the Sigma APO 120-300mm f/2.8 EX HSM, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM and Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0L USM.

FIA Thoroughbred Grand Prix championship round at Donington Park. The meeting was run on the National Circuit.

The morning practice session was wet with heavy rain. It had dried by the time of the race in the afternoon.

The Thoroughbred Grand Prix championship is for Formula 1 cars based on the Cosworth DFV V8 engine and cars which raced in the same time period.

Landscape photography really isn't my thing but I'll post these pictures of what I consider to be the best circuit in the country anyway. The gradient you see in the shots is if anything understated. Cadwell used to feature in the British Hill Climb championship.

First round of the 2004 championship run on the Donington Park National Circuit on 4/4/2004. Conditions were mixed ranging from bright sunshine to torrentail rain.

Taken at the BARC rallycross meeting at Lydden Hill circuit on 14th February 2004. Weather was great for rallycross; drizzle (when it wasn't raining), fog and loads and loads of mud. Not so good for photography though.
